동사로 쓰이는 affect

 

일반적으로 affect는 동사로 사용한다.

'~영향을 미치다' 로 기억해 주자. 또한 누군가의 마음과 감정에 영향을 준다는 의미도 가진다.

How does one’s personality affect success on the job?

개인의 성격이 일의 성공에 어떤 영향을 미칠까요?
These weather conditions will affect the number of people who will come to the outdoor concert.

이런 기상 조건은 야외 콘서트에 오는 사람들의 수에 영향을 줄 것이다.

 

This affects me.

이것은 내게 영향을 준다.

This affects us.

이것은 우리에게 영향을 준다.

This will affect you.

명사로 쓰이는 affect

 

명사로 쓰는 경우는 어떠한 '감정'을 나타낼 때이다.

 

The young man's facial expressions had a humorous affect.젊은이의 표정에는 유머러스한 감정이 담겨 있었다.
Georgette took the news of her company moving to Chicago with little affect.Georgette는 그녀의 회사가 시카고로 이전한다는 소식을 별다른 감정 없이 받아 들였다.

 

 

Effect

 

effect는 명사로 사용한다. '효과, 영향, 효능 등' 으로 기억해 주자.

경기 일정이 팀에 어떤 영향을 미쳤나요?
Did his retirement have any effect on his family?

그의 은퇴가 가족에게 어떤 영향을 미쳤나요?

 

Effect 는 이 단어들 다음으로 쓰여질 수 있다 -> the, any, an, into, on, take, or.

The prescribed medication had an effect on the patient's symptoms.

처방 된 약이 환자의 증상에 영향을 미쳤다.
We have to give the changes time to take effect.

변경 사항이 적용될 때까지 시간을 줘야 한다.

 

무언가를 성취 하였을 때, 또는 어떤 일의 원인으로도 사용된다.

 

The new manager is bound to effect positive changes in the office.

새로운 매니저는 사무실에 긍정적인 변화를 가져 올 것이다.

이 비는 큰 수확에 영향을 미칠 것이다.
